The Voice is returning for its 30th season with a refreshed coaching lineup and the same famous Los Angeles home. NBC’s long-running singing competition is filmed at a soundstage at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California, where contestants perform before the Coaches and compete for a place in the competition.
Season 30 features returning Coaches Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson alongside newcomers Queen Latifah and Riley Green. The season is scheduled to premiere with a three-night event beginning Monday, September 21, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. New episodes will be available to stream on Peacock the following day.
The production takes place on Stage 30 at the Universal Studios lot, located close to the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. Universal Studios highlighted the location in a 2024 Instagram post, identifying the soundstage as the home of The Voice. The show has filmed at Universal Studios since its 2011 premiere, making the site part of the program’s history.
The Los Angeles location has also been convenient for some of the show’s Coaches. John Legend, who has previously served as a Coach, discussed that benefit in a 2024 interview with NBC Insider. He said working near his home made it possible to take his children to school before heading to the set, describing the arrangement as essentially working from home.
The set’s most recognizable feature is its collection of large red spinning chairs. According to the official NBC Insider report, each chair weighs 755 pounds and includes more than 1,400 color-changing LED modules. The chairs also have heating and cooling settings, a detail previously discussed by former Coach Chance the Rapper during an appearance on TODAY.
Those chairs have also become part of the show’s off-camera lore. Blake Shelton, who left The Voice after 23 seasons as a Coach, once expressed a desire to take his chair home rather than see another Coach use it. Levine now occupies Shelton’s former chair, a change that has prompted playful comments from the other Coaches, including John Legend, who joked that Levine had inherited Shelton’s reputation for telling tall tales.
Fans hoping to attend a taping can request tickets through 1iota.com. The tickets do not use a one-day drop or raffle system, and visitors can create an account to request one or two seats. Audience members must be at least 18 years old, while availability depends on the dates released through the ticketing platform.
Alongside the new season, NBC is promoting behind-the-scenes material featuring the Season 30 Coaches, including a roundtable with Levine, Clarkson, Queen Latifah and Green, as well as content showing the panel discussing music and sharing glimpses from their camera rolls. The network is also making selected Season 29 performances available on Peacock. The Voice Season 30 begins Monday, September 21, on NBC, with streaming on Peacock the next day.
