The Voice of Germany has entered its 16th season with more than 100 talents taking the stage. After the third episode, the coaches’ teams are beginning to level out, although Nico Santos has emerged as the early coach to watch.
The current coaching line-up remains unchanged from the previous season. Rea Garvey, Shirin David, Nico Santos and the duo Michi Beck and Smudo are once again competing to build the strongest team from the show’s new singers.
Rea Garvey and Shirin David initially led the talent count after the first two episodes. By episode three, however, each coach had between four and six talents. Team Fanta, the name used for Michi Beck and Smudo’s team, also moved closer to the others after adding two new singers.
Nico Santos currently has five talents, and Joyn highlights the strength of his early selection. Four of the five performers received a four-chair turn during their blind auditions, while the remaining talent attracted three coaches. The result gives Santos a particularly impressive starting position as the competition continues.
The published overview lists the songs performed during the blind auditions, including “Nothing’s Real But Love” by Rebecca Ferguson, Céline Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now,” The Sweet’s “The Ballroom Blitz,” Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You,” Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Tori Amos’ “Winter.” Other songs named in the recap include “I See Red,” “Der Weg,” “Love’s Divine,” “Blauer Ballon,” “Talking To The Moon,” “Caruso” and “Skinny Love.”
Among the contestants specifically identified in the update is Darwin “Daris” Sanchez Pereyra, who joined Team Nico in episode three. The article also names the songs “Love U Anyway” by Benno! and “Broken Vow” by Josh Groban in connection with the season’s team overview. The remaining episodes will show whether Santos can turn his strong blind-audition start into the most successful team of the season.
